SPORTS – RELATED CONCUSSION PROGRAM

Having performed Baseline and Post injury Concussion testing with Stoneham High School athletes for 7 yrs, we recognize its benefit and the need to expand this service to athletes outside of the high school setting. We are now offering this service to athletes 12 years and older. Advantage Sports Medicine recognizes the need for our Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers to be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary Sports Concussion Management Team. We remain the leaders in our community with Sports – Related Concussion Education, Pre-Season Baseline Testing and Post injury Physical Therapy Rehabilitation.

We utilize ImPACT Neurocognitive Testing as part of the Concussion screening process (i), (ii), (iii).  All of our Clinical staff members are credentialed in concussion management through ImPACT's Trained Physical Therapist (ITPT) or Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT) programs.

We also have ImPACT test Administrators on staff.


Advantage offers Pre-Season Sports – Related Concussion Baseline Testing. This consists of:

o   Clinical Interview

o   ImPACT Neurocognitive Baseline Testing

o   Clinical Baseline testing for Postural Stability

o   Clinical Baseline Vestibular / Ocular - Motor Screening
 

All four portions of the screening are research and evidence based to be both reliable and valid tools for evaluating for post-concussion symptoms.

It is key to have accurate baseline measures for comparison to post injury test and assisting with managing the athlete’s recovery.

Results of the Pre-Season Concussion Baseline testing will be issued to the athlete so they may utilize this information in the future with other medical professionals in their concussion management team. Plan on approximately 1 hour to complete your Pre-Season Sports – Related Concussion Baseline Testing. 

Cost is $50 per athlete. Discounted Team rates ($40 per athlete for more than 10 athletes) is available.
